Our story
Hanmua began with a frustration: the best Korean formulas were being sold as twelve-step homework.
We spent two years with a family-run laboratory in Seongsu-dong, cutting a catalogue of forty concepts down to five. The rule was simple — if a product did not change something measurable in eight weeks, it did not ship.
What survived is a collection built around fermentation, the technique that separates Korean skincare from everything else. Rice, ginseng and mugwort are not decorative here. They are fermented for weeks to break their actives into molecules small enough for skin to actually use.
The name comes from 무아 — the state of being so absorbed in something that you forget yourself. It is what a good evening ritual should feel like.
